Robert Stern

Robert G. Stern is a partner in the Tampa and St. Petersburg law firm of Trenam, Kemker.  He specializes in sophisticated commercial real estate transactions, banking and business law, and represents lenders, owners and developers in various acquisitions, development, leasing, and lending matters.  Prior to attending law school Robert was a banker with First Union Bank (now Wells Fargo) at its headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida.  Robert attended the University of Florida where he earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration and his Juris Doctorate with honors.  While at UF he served as President of Florida Blue Key, Senior Editor of the Florida Law Review, as a member of the Order of Coif and was elected to the UF Hall of Fame.  He is a former member of the Postsecondary Education Planning Commission.  In addition to his practice at Trenam Kemker, Robert is actively-involved in numerous civic, charitable and community activities.  He is past President of the Tampa Gator Club, past President of the Hillsborough County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, and served on the City of Tampa Civil Service Board.  He is the past President of the UF National Alumni Association, served as Trustee of the UF College of Law, and was Chairman of the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries.  He is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a "Board Certified Real Estate Attorney" and was selected by the Tampa Bay Business Journal as one of the “40 Under 40” Award recipients.  Robert is the former Chairman of the Land Trust & REIT Committee, former Chairman of the Real Estate Certification Review Course Committee, and former Vice Chairman of the Mortgages and Encumbrances Committee, and current Vice Chairman of the Opinion Letters Committee of the Real Property Probate and Trust Land Section of the Florida Bar.  Mr. Stern served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of South Florida and as an Adjunct Professor at Stetson College of Law where he taught Real Estate Finance and Development Law.  He has frequently served as an expert witness, consultant, receiver, and mediator.  He is listed in Best Lawyers of America, Florida Trend Legal Elite and Florida Super Lawyers.  Mr. Stern is a frequent lecturer and author on commercial real estate and lending topics.  Robert serves on the Board of Directors of the Historic Hyde Park Neighborhood Association, the Plant High School Athletic Foundation, and the Tampa Downtown Partnership.  Robert is an active member and served as an Elder of Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, enjoys coaching youth sports and following the Florida Gators.
