Jason J. Rosenberg, MD, FACS is a Reconstructive Microsurgeon specializing in breast cancer reconstruction. He is a partner and shareholder at The Orthopaedic Institute (TOI), a multi-specialty medical practice with offices in Gainesville, Ocala, Lake City and Alachua. Prior to joining TOI in 2005, Dr. Rosenberg served as an Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Florida where he was engaged in teaching, research, and patient care.
Dr. Rosenberg recently completed a four-year gubernatorial appointment to the Florida Board of Medicine where he served as the board’s chairman in 2012. He also served as chairman of the board’s Rules and Legislative Committee and the Surgical Care Committee. Following Governor Scott’s election, Dr. Rosenberg chaired the Governor’s Department of Health Transition Team. He has also served as a gubernatorial appointee to the State University System Board of Regents.
He has been an avid supporter of the University of Florida serving in numerous leadership capacities. He has served as President of the University of Florida College of Medicine’s Alumni Association where he launched a major alumni fundraising campaign to upgrade the college’s facilities. As President of UF’s National Alumni Association, Dr. Rosenberg worked tirelessly to encourage philanthropic support of a major university priority, the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarship program.
Dr. Rosenberg is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserve Medical Corps. He has served in a variety of military roles, ranging from international surgical missions to his most recent assignment at Eglin Hospital in the Florida panhandle providing surgical care to active duty military personnel and their families. Dr. Rosenberg has led and participated in a variety of international surgical missions to Haiti, Central America, and Southeast Asia.
Dr. Rosenberg is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgeons and the Florida Medical Association. He has been elected to membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and is a member of the University of Florida Hall of Fame.
He received his undergraduate, graduate, and medical degrees from the University of Florida and completed his residency training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Shands at the University of Florida serving as Chief Resident in 2002. He went on to complete a Reconstructive Microsurgery fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas. Married with four children, Dr. Rosenberg lives in Gainesville, Florida.
